May 2026: Keith G. Speights, current student

ĢƵ is proud to recognize Keith G. Speights for his longstanding commitment to supporting others. Speights has dedicated his life to service, mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement through his work as a veteran of the U.S. Army, a 29-year member of the Masonic Order, a ĢƵ peer leader, and current president of the ĢƵ Alpha Phi Omega petitioning group.

In these roles and organizations, Speights has supported veterans transitioning back into civilian life, individuals reentering society after incarceration, and students pursuing opportunities in information technology and STEM fields. His service has also included organizing community drives; advocating for equal rights and expanded opportunities in marginalized communities; and mentoring students in online learning, time management, and academic confidence. In addition, he has participated in outreach efforts supporting elderly community members and disease awareness initiatives.

Speights believes that service is rooted in showing up for others consistently and using his experiences to encourage and support those around him. That commitment to uplifting others extends beyond his civic and community involvement and into his personal life—he considers raising his four daughters to be his most meaningful and proudest achievement.

April 2026: Katie Kamara, current student

ĢƵ proudly recognizes Katie Kamara for her leadership, service, and community impact. Kamara is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies and an undergraduate certificate in Leadership and Ethics at ĢƵ. She cofounded ĢƵ’s Pre-Law Club to create a sustainable pathway for students interested in law. Her work—from securing institutional approval to building leadership structures and outreach—reflects a commitment to long-term impact beyond her own term. Under Kamara’s leadership, the Pre-Law Club achieved the highest level of participation in the Fall 2025 Volunteer Challenge on the .

In addition to spearheading the Pre-Law Club, Kamara serves in multiple leadership roles across ĢƵ student organizations, including as vice president of leadership for the newly established ĢƵ chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national coeducational service fraternity. Across all her work, she remains focused on building strong systems, mentoring future leaders, and creating long-term student impact.

Kamara’s motivation for volunteering is rooted in building lasting impact and creating opportunities and structures that can continue to serve others well beyond her direct involvement.

March 2026: Ma'Kyria Braggs, current ĢƵ student

ĢƵ is proud to recognize Ma’Kyria Braggs for her leadership, service, and community impact. Serving as a master fitness leader in the U.S. Air Force and a Fitness Improvement Program facilitator at Travis Air Force Base, Braggs supports servicemembers in improving their health, confidence, and readiness. She has led group physical training sessions and provided specialized instruction to over 300 servicemembers, while also launching a Fitness Improvement Program to support those struggling with PT tests.

Braggs extends her impact beyond fitness through community service and care. She volunteers with a team to prepare and deliver monthly meals for families staying at the Fisher House—serving more than 60 families—and organized holiday gift distributions for 100 elementary school students. She has also completed mental health training to better identify and support individuals in need. Braggs volunteers because she believes in the power of showing up for others, sharing that “small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.” For her, service is about uplifting others and ensuring that no one feels alone during challenging times.

February 2026: Aneela Agha, current ĢƵ student

ĢƵ proudly recognizes Aneela Agha for her leadership, service, and commitment to student engagement. Currently pursuing a computer science degree, Agha serves as chair of the IEEE Student Branch at ĢƵ, creating opportunities for students to connect through technical and professional development events. From organizing workshops and speaker sessions to planning hands-on STEM activities, she works closely with fellow student leaders and faculty advisors to ensure that programs are welcoming, relevant, and responsive to student interests. In addition, Agha serves as vice chair of the Student Advisory Council, elevating student perspectives and sharing feedback directly with university leadership.

In both roles, she focuses on turning individual student experiences into shared momentum—helping ensure that no student feels as if they are navigating their academic or professional path alone. Agha volunteers because she is a self-learner who believes that “learning becomes transformative when it is shared.” For her, service is about creating spaces in which knowledge, growth, and opportunity are accessible to everyone.

December 2025/January 2026: Raven M. Wright, current student and ĢƵ employee

ĢƵ is proud to recognize Raven M. Wright for her dedication to environmental conservation, community education, and service beyond her professional role at the university. Wright is a senior admissions advisor at ĢƵ and is currently pursuing the Drone and Autonomous Systems certificate, while actively volunteering with multiple environmental and conservation organizations. She has earned three community service badges and completed more than 100 volunteer hours through the , reflecting her consistent and meaningful commitment to service.

Wright supports several community partners, including the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, and the Pleasure Island Sea Turtle Project. Through her volunteer service, she assists with marine life care, wildlife habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and extensive sea turtle nest monitoring and protection. She also engages in public education and outreach efforts that promote ocean conservation, native species awareness, and responsible environmental stewardship.

Reflecting on her motivation to volunteer, Wright shares, “My motivation stems from a deep belief that we are caretakers of our natural world and the species with whom we share it. Our planet is extraordinary and continually provides us with the resources we need to thrive.” She adds that volunteering allows her to put her values into action and make a tangible difference in protecting the planet. ĢƵ celebrates Wright’s compassion, leadership, and commitment to meaningful community impact.

November 2025: Reacy Ellis ’17, current student

ĢƵ proudly recognizes Reacy Ellis for her dedication to mentorship, professional empowerment, and community impact. Ellis earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from ĢƵ in 2017 and is now pursuing her Master of Business Administration while actively giving back to the communities she serves. She believes that everyone deserves support, encouragement, and guidance as they work toward their goals, and she brings that belief to life through her volunteer work.

As a volunteer business advisor with the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Ellis helps small business owners understand their financial projections and make informed decisions that support long-term success. She also volunteers through ĢƵ’s CareerQuest platform, providing students and alumni with résumé support, career guidance, and confidence-building mentorship. In addition, she has contributed to ĢƵ’s cross-cultural conversations and participated in the university’s virtual accreditation meeting, reinforcing her commitment to inclusive dialogue and academic excellence.

Reflecting on her volunteer journey, Ellis shares, “I feel I’m able to create real impact by offering clarity, encouragement, and practical tools that people can use right away.” She adds that volunteering gives her fulfillment, new perspectives, and a deeper sense of connection to her community and that she was motivated to serve because she wanted to give others the same guidance that supported her on her own career journey. ĢƵ celebrates Ellis’s compassion, leadership, and dedication to empowering others to succeed.
