Employers value leadership, adaptability, and technical expertise

Consistent with its long history of serving the military community, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ) will observe National Hire a Veteran Day on July 25, 2026. To better understand the skills veterans bring to the workforce, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ asked employer partners who recruit veterans through university events to share what makes these candidates stand out.

Richard Moore, military outreach program manager at General Dynamics Mission Systems, said Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ veterans are sought-after candidates because of their “real-world military operational experience, formally validated academic credentials in high-demand fields, leadership training tailored for military-to-civilian transitions, technical skills aligned with defense industry needs, and a resilient, mission-focused mindset.â€

In addition to helping organizations fill critical positions quickly, employer partners who recruit Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ student and alumni veterans cite several other advantages, including:

  • Exceptional leadership abilities
  • Tenacity and adaptability
  • Diligent and industrious approach
  • Technical expertise
  • Existing security clearances

“We partnered with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ specifically because they have a much higher concentration of veterans and experienced job seekers,â€ said Bruce Williams, a talent acquisition specialist at BAE Systems. “We have found that working with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, many of our job vacancies have been filled more efficiently by engaging with their community.â€
